Welcome to the Sparkling Life Coach Podcast.

Hey, Sparkling One. I'm your host, Dee Diaz, an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. Before we get started, if you missed the first episode in this Essential Oil Hacks mini-series, hit pause and go check it out, and then meet me back here.

Trust me, it'll make this whole series so much more fun. But if you are already caught up, buckle in because today's episode is all about essential oil hacks that actually save you money. Yes, I said save you money. Because listen, wellness doesn't have to be expensive. And if you've ever stared at a tiny bottle of essential oil thinking, 'Is this worth it?' Today's episode is gonna be the moment you say, 'Oh, now I get it.'

Let me start with a little confession. There was a time when I thought essential oils were fancy, like spa only, fancy, like I'm gonna save this for special occasions fancy. Then one day, I was out of literally everything: dish soap, all-purpose cleaner, stain remover, hand sanitizer. It was like the universe wanted me to do a minimalist challenge that I didn't sign up for.

So, I started improvising a little Lemon here, a little OnGuard there, a little vinegar, and suddenly my house was clean, my wallet was happy, and I felt like the MacGyver of essential oils. That was the day I realized essential oils don't cost money. They save money when you know how to use them. So, we're gonna discuss essential oil hacks that can help you cut costs while enjoying the benefits of natural solutions.

Many people spend a fortune on commercial cleaning, beauty and health products that are packed with chemicals. We need a more affordable, natural alternative. This is something I wish someone had told me earlier in my journey. Essential oils are basically concentrated value. One drop does the work of what would normally be a tablespoon or more of something else, and when you stretch them correctly, like with do-it-yourself blends, you create solutions that last weeks and even months.

So, let's jump into the hacks, because these are the ones that have saved me real dollars and a couple of shopping trips.

Hack number one is the Forever Foaming Hand soap. You know those cute foaming hand soap bottles. Yeah, I keep them. Don't toss them out. Ever.

Just fill the bottle a fifth full with a natural soap base like Castile soap. Add 10 to 15 drops of essential oils and top it with water. You can add your favorite essential oil. I love the tree oils, so scents like Shinrin-Yoku, the forest bathing blend, or if you like citrusy scents, Citrus Bliss would work wonderfully.

And I love using the seasonal blends like Harvest Spice, Holiday Joy, and Holiday Peace when they're in season. But really, any of your favorite essential oils will do. That one bottle will last forever and cost maybe 60 cents to refill. Every time I make one, I feel like I'm winning at life.

Hack number two is the $2 all-purpose cleaner that smells expensive.

If you like your home smelling clean, like hotel lobby clean, this one's for you. Take a 16-ounce spray bottle and a cup of vinegar, one cup of water, and 10 to 15 drops of Lemon essential oil, Tea Tree essential oil, or the Purify Cleansing Blend. Just shake it up, and you're done. That's it. It cuts grease, it cleans counters, and it smells fresh without the price tag or the mystery ingredients. If your surfaces could smile, they would.

Hack number three is also an awesome, multipurpose cleaner, dōTERRA’s OnGuard, cleaner concentrate. It's an amazing, cleaner concentrate you can use for counters to clean dishes, bathrooms, laundry, and especially on your toughest jobs.

The difference in effectiveness of the products that you may currently be using in your home is astounding. In addition, the OnGuard Cleaner Concentrate saves us money. One bottle of OnGuard Cleaner Concentrate makes about eighteen 16-ounce bottles of a multipurpose spray at $18 wholesale, that's about a dollar a bottle. Pretty comparable in price to anything you would find at the dollar store, and certainly much better for your health.

Hack number four is the diffuser blend that replaces air freshener instead of constantly buying air fresheners, or those plugins that smell like a perfume store, but are really just pumping all these toxic fumes in your home, grab your diffuser. A few drops of essential oils in water, and suddenly you're breathing cleaner scents and not chemicals. One of my favorite budget-friendly blends is tangerine essential oil, plus peppermint essential oil. It smells like productivity and good decisions.

Hack number five is the million-dollar bottle. You heard me talk about it in the last episode, but it's definitely worth mentioning again. Lemon Essential Oil is a hero essential oil.

It costs around $16, but the bottle has 250 concentrated drops. That means every drop is pennies, and each drop can remove sticker residue. It can clean surfaces, freshen laundry, polish furniture, shine stainless steel, deodorize your fridge, uplift your mood. I mean, this oil definitely pays rent.

Hack number six is to make your own room spray. If you love room sprays, but not the price tag or the toxins, here's the easiest do-it-yourself recipe ever.

Take a small spray bottle, two tablespoons of witch hazel, 10 to 20 drops of your favorite essential oil, and fill the rest with water. Shake it up before each use, and you now have a spa-scented room spray for under a dollar. Your house will smell like you hired a cleaning crew, even though you didn't.

Here's the bottom line. Using essential oils isn't about being fancy. It's about being smart because they not only provide health benefits, but also offer a budget-friendly way to replace expensive products. Once you learn these do-it-yourself hacks, your tiny bottles suddenly stretch into weeks and weeks of solutions, and that sparkling one is the real hack.
