The Best Holistic Summer Wellness Essentials
What's your biggest summer struggle right now? Is it keeping your energy up, protecting your skin naturally? Or maybe you're looking for ways to cool down without guzzling your body weight in iced coffee, because I don't know about you, but sometimes I feel like Summer fun comes with a side of bug bites, sunburns, and never-ending heat exhaustion, right?
If you're nodding your head yes, then stick with me because this episode is your Summer Wellness Survival Guide Sparkling Life style. By the end of this episode, you're gonna have a toolkit with the best holistic summer wellness essentials. It's packed with natural solutions to keep you feeling energized, protected, and positively glowing all summer long.

Hey, Sparkling One. I'm your host, Dee Diaz, an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and cheerleader for all things health, happiness, and holistic living. Now tell me, is your summer anything like mine? It starts off good, right? Family barbecues, kids running around. The grill is going, music is playing, it's one of those picture-perfect afternoons, but within minutes, I'm scratching mosquito bites, like I have a case of chicken pox.
I'm feeling drained from the heat, and let's not even talk about the sunburns that show up uninvited the next day. Well, if you've had enough, and like me, you think there has to be a better way. You are absolutely right. Summer can be your favorite time of year when you're prepared with the right tools.
And I do that by keeping my essential oils on deck. My DIY sprays are ready, and with my summer essentials, I have energy that lasts all day long. So let's talk about how you can be prepared, too.
Let's start with the top ways to use essential oils this summer. There are three main ways I use them. The first is topically. Did you know when you apply oils to your skin, it only takes about 20 seconds for them to enter your bloodstream, and within 20 minutes, they're circulating through your entire body.
The bottoms of the feet are a great place to apply the oils as the feet have less sensitive skin, and it also has the advantage, if you're not crazy about the essential oils' aroma, then it's farther away from your nose when it's applied to the feet.
You can also apply them to the back of the neck or along the spine. My go-to, I love Lavender and the Serenity Blend on the back of my neck before bed for restful sleep. I like to use Peppermint essential oils on the bottoms of my feet to cool down instantly during hot days, and it also supports clear breathing.
Just be sure for your little ones, always dilute your essential oils with Fractionated Coconut Oil or any other carrier oil to keep it gentle.
The second way I like to use them is aromatically. Just put a drop in the palm of your hands. Cup your hands to your nose, and inhale deeply. It's an amazing way to experience the oils. Diffusing is also a great way to get the benefits from essential oils. They can support respiratory functions and also enhance mood.
For example, maybe you're about to head into a Zoom or Teams meeting and you're feeling a little blah. When that happens to me, I just place a drop of Wild Orange and Peppermint essential oil in the palm of my hands or in my diffuser, and Wow, I get an instant mood shift. The third way to use essential oils is internally, but you're gonna do this with caution.
Because not all essential oils are safe for internal use. In fact, dōTERRA’s Certified Pure Tested Grade essential oils is the only brand I would trust to use internally. Please don't assume that it's okay to use any brand of essential oil internally, as purity varies greatly. If they're safe for consumption, the bottle will clearly be labeled if it's approved for internal use.
Once you're assured of quality, you can add one drop to your water or tea. I like any of the citrus oils, like a drop of Lemon essential oil because this helps me hit my daily water goals and bonus, it also supports your body with a gentle detoxification fun fact, studies show that drinking lemon-infused water may help improve hydration by up to 25% compared to plain water. I'm sure that's because people are more likely to drink flavored water, right?
And what better way to flavor your water than with CPTG essential oils? All right, Sparkling One, now let's talk outdoor adventures. Summer is great for activities like camping, hiking, biking, and chasing the kids in the park. So, here's my top outdoor essentials kit. Deep Blue Rub. After a long hike, my calves, my knees, and my feet are singing, Hallelujah, thanks to this rub. Another item on my essentials list is the TerraShield Repellent Blend. This is huge. Cooking with essential oils is like having your own secret flavor weapon, so I'm going to share a variety of wonderful summer recipes with you, along with a list of the best essential oils for summer cooking. Your family and friends will think you hired a chef once you start adding essential oils to your meals. Picture this: fresh Lemon essential oil drizzled over grilled veggies. A drop of Basil essential oil, stirred into homemade pesto, or Cilantro essential oil in your favorite summer salsa. Some additional oils that can be used for your summer cooking are Coriander, Grapefruit, Lime, Marjoram, Oregano, Rosemary, Thyme, and Wild Orange. And mind you, that's not a complete list. Now I'd like to give you a quick tip because remember, these essential oils are potent. So, one drop goes a long way. For example, one drop of dōTERRA’s Lemon essential oil equals the zest of one whole lemon. Talk about flavor power. So, I suggest you start with even less than a drop.
I usually take a toothpick and I dip it in the essential oil and then add it to my dish that way first, so you don't use too much. Now I have a special gift for you. Now, before we wrap up, I also wanted to mention a few of my absolutely favorite do-it-yourself summer hacks. So, in the eBook, make sure to look for the recipes to a cooling spray for hot days, which is perfect for beach days, baseball games, or just standing in line at the farmer's market. There's also a do-it-yourself after-sun soothing spray, so when the sun gets too intense, this mix feels like heaven on sun-kissed skin. Another item is a DIY, natural sunscreen. For the absolute best, do-it-yourself natural sunscreen, I highly recommend you give this recipe a shot because the store-bought options are filled with harmful ingredients.
There's also a DIY natural hand cleanser, because the summer is known for barbecues, picnics, eating at the beach or by the pool, and often people are left without the ability to clean their hands before meals. This is why I love this DIY hand cleanser.
You're gonna want to keep some in your purse, the pool bag, or your car, so your hands will always be squeaky clean all summer long. Of course, if you're not into do-it-yourself, you can order the done-for-you, the OnGuard Hand Sanitizing Gel or Spray.
Now, summer is a great time to travel, so I'm also sharing the Immune Support Roller Bottle recipe. The kids are out of school. There are a handful of holidays, and nearly everywhere you go will be beautiful. But when people travel, the one thing they really need is immune support.

Now I know I'm gonna get some questions about this episode, so let me answer a few frequently asked questions right now. A lot of people ask, can I use any essential oils internally, as I mentioned, only if they're labeled for internal use. That's why I only trust CPTG Certified Pure Tested Grade essential oils like dōTERRA, and even then, make sure to check the label.
If it has a supplement label, then it's fine for ingesting. If it has an ingredients label, then it should only be used for topical application or in the diffuser. Another question that's asked frequently is, are these essential oils safe for kids and pets? Absolutely, but always dilute and do your research because we're bio-individuals, so each body is different.
